Design Concept

Frome the existing river straighten by the surrounding agriculture field, rejuvenate and transform to its natural shape, reduce areas of farmland and reintroduce riparian woodland and grassland into the landscape, using the boardwalk as a binding element to create a dynamic coastal network of Cromarty Firth.

Using the Boardwalk as the binding elements to connect the Cromarty Firth coastal landscape, using larch timber from surrounding local forestry as the key material. 

Regenerating the riparian landscape along the river by reshaping the existing watercourse and introducing riparian planting.

Introducing wooden structures along the boardwalk with minimal disturbance to the landscape. As a shelter and birdwatching hub, framing views to the landscape.
